PCAS has been supplying the electronic industry for many years, with a historical specialization on materials used in photolithography for the manufacture of silicon wafers.
Products marketed by PCAS for this industry are essentially photoresist polymers (novolac, acrylics, polysiloxanes, polyimides), monomers and polymers for antireflective coatings (derivatives of anthracenes, acrylic polymers), acid-generator additives, infrared dyes or polymers for interconnect and packaging (polyimide, epoxy, polysiloxane).
PCAS know-how and production capacity in ultra-clean metal-free conditions are quite unique. So, all these products are manufactured at an extremely low level of metal contamination, in the ppb range for each metal. This expertise is also offered to our customers through custom manufacturing and tolling agreements.
PCAS is actively developing innovative organic compounds that will be at the cutting edge of technology in the conducting polymer industry and more specifically in photovoltaics and printed electronics.
Photoresists- for Integrated Circuits (IC)
PCAS custom manufactures polymers and additives used by its customers in the formulation of most of photoresist technologies :
- I-line and G-line : novolac-based photoresists with DNQ photosensitizers
- KrF and ArF : acrylic-based and hydroxyl-styrene-based photoresists, polysiloxanes for tri-layer technology, photo-acid generators (PAG)
PCAS can also purify at a very low metal level various additives used in photoresist formulations, such as solvents, surfactants, adhesion promoters, quenchers, photo-active compounds.
Bottom anti-reflective coatings (BARC) are formulations allowing a much higher resolution of the lithographic process in decreasing the reflection onto the silicon substrate.
PCAS provides a wide range of polymers and monomers, either on a custom-manufacturing basis within the scope of exclusive agreements or on a proprietary basis for all anthracene derivatives.
Products are manufactured under stringent specifications, including very high purity and low metal contents at the ppb (parts per billion) or ppt (parts per trillion) level.

Printed & Organic electronics
PCAS innovative abilities and expertise in the field of microelectronics have enabled the Company to enter the emerging printed electronic market and to offer its capabilities and know-how to this industry.
Printed electronics emerged from the development of a new generation of products with flexibility properties. The printed electronics technology means that electronic materials are printed onto a flexible surface (polyester film, paper, etc.).. Materials used are active inks and all forms of classic printing techniques can be considered like ink-jet or roll to roll printing. The inks can contain metallic nano-particles (silver), inorganic components (ITO, ZnO), but also organic components such as conductive polymers (polythiophene, polycarbazole, polyaniline, etc.). Printed electronic products are therefore made of several different layers of materials, which provide the required functions.
Printed electronics cover a wide range of smart product applications such as flexible display systems, sensors, radio frequency identification (RFID) labeling or organic photovoltaic cells and batteries.
