Tox & Ecotox studies, a PCAS initiative

Ahead of increasing requirements in terms of toxicology data availability pertaining to the substances we manufacture or handle:

  • Pharma regulations (e.g. guidances on genotoxic impurities)
  • REACH
  • Protection of our operators and down stream users,

(data mainly obtained through « in vivo » testing on animals), in 2007 PCAS applied for an ANR project (French National Agency for Research) for the validation of « in silico » or "QSAR" (Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships) methods for Tox and Ecotox evaluations, wich means computer solutions, taking into account:

  • Quantitative Structure-Activity Relationships
  • information already available for similar molecules on international data

The project has been called INNOTOX, it involves PCAS and 2 French research institutes, this project has been selected by ANR (Agence National de la Recherche) in December 2007, it also enables these 2 expert institutes the financial and human means to conduct and complete that validation on PCAS substances.

The following scheme gives the outlines of the study and objectives
